atuin register -u myusername -e myemail

My email does not contain any special charaters, neither does my username. all characters are lowercase. no spaces.

For anyone finding this on Google

This can happen when the email you’re trying to register is already in use. We don’t report this, to avoid making it easy to check what emails are signed up.

You can either

  1. Delete your account with atuin account delete to free up the email
  2. Use a +, eg ellie+foo@example.com
