Meaning of sync > cloud option on atuin doctor

I executed atuin doctor, and found that sync.cloud was set to false. I couldn’t find any information about what this configuration shows. Anyone knows?

You can sync your history to an atuin server run by the devs or self-host a server. “cloud” is this public atuin server.

Strange… I’m using the official one (http://api.atuin.sh), but still shows cloud set to false for me.

@tessus Thanks. I got it the problem. I was using the Atuin packaged with Ubuntu, but for some reason the TLS wasn’t working, so I had to change to http. Now I’m using the binary from GitHub’s release page, and I could turn back to https and it was showed as cloud equals true. Thank you.

Could you each out to the package maintainer for support with this please?

Oftentimes for older distros (Ubuntu/Fedora) they make significant patches to our codebase, which we cannot support

Otherwise, glad you got it sorted!

I opened a bug report with Ubuntu. I hope they can fix it and send the patch for Debian, since they got the package from there, and finally Raspberry Pi OS also uses it soon.
